Terms of Service

Effective November 4, 2026 · Last updated November 4, 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and Ian Zhang, who operates Drift (“Drift,” “we,” “us”) and cover your use of the Drift mobile app and joindrift.io. By creating an account or using Drift, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Drift. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. Who can use Drift

You must be at least 13 years old and old enough to agree to these Terms where you live. If you are under the age of adulthood where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you. Higher age requirements may apply under local law. You may not use Drift if the law prohibits you from doing so.

You are responsible for giving accurate account information, keeping your Apple, Google, or other sign-in account secure, and for what happens through your Drift account. Tell us at support@joindrift.io if you think someone else is using your account.

2. You and your partner

Drift is built around pairing with one person. Only pair with someone you trust and who wants to pair with you. Once you pair, your partner can see your shared world and the profile information described in our Privacy Policy, and your interactions can reach them as notifications.

You can unpair at any time in the app. Unpairing ends ongoing partner access, but it cannot remove screenshots or other copies your partner has already saved.

Do not use Drift to monitor, pressure, or control another person. Presence, status, and notifications can be delayed or wrong, so do not rely on Drift to confirm where someone is or whether they are safe. Drift is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of what you create and upload in Drift, including your Mini’s customization, drawings, status messages, and custom stickers. You give Drift a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve Drift. This license ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we may keep as described in our Privacy Policy and copies other people have already saved.

Custom stickers you upload are available to signed-in Drift users, not just your partner. Do not upload anything to the custom sticker library that you want to keep private.

You are responsible for your content, and you must have the rights to anything you upload. Do not upload an image of another person without their permission.

4. Rules for using Drift

We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You may not use Drift to break the law; harass, threaten, stalk, or bully anyone; promote hate or violence; share sexually explicit content in the custom sticker library or anywhere other users can see it; share anyone’s private information or intimate images without their consent; or infringe anyone’s rights.

Any content that sexualizes or exploits a minor is strictly prohibited. We will remove it, end the account, and report it to the appropriate authorities.

You also may not impersonate someone else; send malware or spam; scrape or copy Drift or its data by automated means; reverse engineer Drift except where the law allows it; get around its security or access limits; or interfere with how it works for others.

5. Reporting a problem

To report content or a user, email support@joindrift.io with the subject “Report” and tell us what happened, including the sticker, content, or account involved. You can also unpair from your partner at any time in the app.

We do not review everything on Drift, but we may review content that is reported to us or that we otherwise believe breaks these Terms. We may remove that content and warn, suspend, or end the accounts involved. We may also share information with authorities where the law requires it or where someone’s safety is at risk.

6. Drift’s app and brand

Drift owns the app, website, Mini characters, artwork, name, and logos, apart from your content. We give you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Drift app on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and any applicable app store rules.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.

7. Price and changes to Drift

Drift does not currently charge for the app. If we add paid features, we will show you the price and any additional terms before you pay.

Drift is still evolving. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may limit or stop parts of the service. Where a change significantly affects you, we will try to give you reasonable notice.

8. Other companies’ services

Drift relies on services from other companies, including Apple and Google for sign-in and app distribution. Their own terms apply to your use of those services, and we are not responsible for them. Our Privacy Policy lists the service providers that process information for Drift.

9. Ending your account

You can stop using Drift at any time. To delete your account, open your Profile in the app and choose Delete account, or follow the email instructions in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account ends your pairing and is permanent. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if your use creates a risk for other people or for Drift, or if the law requires it. Where appropriate, we will tell you why and give you a way to contact us about the decision.

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should continue after your account ends will continue, including those on content already shared, disclaimers, and limits of liability.

10. Disclaimers

Drift is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that Drift will always be available, on time, or free of errors, or that your data will never be lost.

Some features present your activity as playful stories, which may exaggerate or get details wrong. Drift is meant for fun and connection, and it is not a substitute for professional advice or support. We are not responsible for how you and your partner treat each other, or for the outcome of any relationship.

11. Limits of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Drift will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or emotional distress arising from your use of Drift or from other users’ content or conduct. Our total liability for all claims relating to Drift is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose or US$50.

Some places do not allow these limits. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you, including your mandatory consumer rights.

12. If you got Drift from Apple’s App Store

These Terms are between you and Drift, not Apple, and Drift, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content. Your license to use the app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control and to the uses allowed by Apple’s Usage Rules. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.

If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund any purchase price you paid for the app. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Drift, not Apple, is responsible for addressing product liability, legal or regulatory, and consumer protection claims relating to the app, and for investigating and resolving any claim that the app infringes someone’s intellectual property rights.

You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Drift changes. We will post the updated Terms here and change the date above. For material changes, we will provide additional notice where required by applicable law. If you keep using Drift after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using Drift and delete your account.
